Teenage Cancer Trust are running a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of skin cancer in teenagers and young adults. Over the past 30 years, incidences of skin cancer have massively risen and its now the second most common cancer in young people (aged 15 - 34)

Actor Nicholas Hoult and actress Michelle Ryan are this year’s Shunburn ambassadors and with the support of photographer Mary McCartney, took part in an exclusive photoshoot demonstrating the campaign’s key sun safety messages.

Love the sun, respect your skin

Avoid the pain and shame of the lobster look by following these five simple steps

Slap on the suncream

Apply generous amounts of SPF15 or higher to clean, dry skin before going out in the sun.

Wear a hat or cap

Whether its cowboy, peaked or hippy chick, a wide-brimmed hat is your best bet to keep the heat off your head, face and neck.

Cover up your skin

Throw on a long-sleeved top, wrap a sarong around your legs or a bandana around your neck to banish those burning rays.

Slip on the shades

Don’t forget, your eyes need protection too!

Chill out in the shade

Between 11am and 3pm

When the sun’s rays are strongest, take an extra long lunch under a tree or umbrella.
