If you’ve heard of Pag Island in Croatia then you’ve clearly being drinking your cool juice because this place is the best kept party secret in Europe. By ‘this place’, we mean the resort of Novalja and more importantly Zrce beach which is where the coolest of the cool have been coming in the past couple of years to take advantage of the 24 hour licenses and which, with the launch of the Hideout Festival in 2011, is about to get massive.
Novlalja is the biggest tourist hotspot in Croatia, and with good reason. The resort is packed with restaurants, bars and shops all of which offer incredible value as Croatia is still one of the cheapest countries in Europe. The weather is usually incredible with an average summer temperature of 28 degrees meaning you’ll be slapping on the suncream and getting as brown as your friends will be green with envy.
But the real draw for anybody coming to the Island of Pag (who isn’t a cheese fanatic – don’t ask!) is Zrce beach which has become the party capital of the Balkans, attracting some of the biggest names in music including Calvin Harris, Annie Mac and many more. They come to play at the Zrce beach’s incredible venues including Club Papaya; an awesome open air beach-club which has a pool, waterslide, Jacuzzi and some of the best cocktails Club 18-30 have ever enjoyed, Aquarius; which is not only a great place to enjoy amazing food but at night throws some of the best parties you could imagine including bubble parties, live concerts and drawing massive house DJ’s and Kalypso which is a beach sports bar which does fun in the sun like nothing you’ve seen before.
The word is out and so book for 2012 to make sure you’re here the year the world really discovers Pag.
